This superb quality late 19th century Chinese carved lacquer box is unusual as the colours are in reverse to what is often seen. The red lacquer has been used as the ground colour and the brown has been overlaid and used for the decorative carving.
The top panel is most magnificent. It is carved with a five clawed dragon amongst stylised clouds and is beautifully detailed in the brown and red lacquer. The box is of a simple form with a lift off lid. The edges of the box are more traditionally carved with leafy scrolls and peony flower heads. Width:13 cm(5.1).
Height:6 cm (2.4). Diameter: 13 cm(5.1). Very good condition in general only some minor chips inside.
I will send it with track number and correctly packed.
