Address and name correct for period from 1845 onwards. British Victorian Brass Crank Handle winch reel 2 3/4 wide. Narrow Drum (ND) 13/16 arbor width. Reel width with check housing : 1 1/4. Early and rare turned reverse tapered off white resin handle on single curved brass crank arm, attached to spindle with large alloy domed screw - maybe later replacement.
Smooth brass foot attached with 5 alloy rivets to wide straight brass bridge attached to Face plate with 1 alloy rivet, Back plate with 2 brass extended rivets. Deep core brass drum with hole for line attachment. 3 brass pin cage pillars attached with brass rivets thru to Face Plate + brass rivets extending beyond plates to Back Plate. Brass raised spindle boss ontop of housed check mechanism to Back Plate.Face Plate with script engraved makers details. Extremely rare example made exactly same as same period reels by Ustonson so likely an influence.
